Who’s the Boss Now…?

2 Nov

I was getting Trinity ready to go to school this morning, when the Hubby came downstairs to take him to school. And it was 7:50am, and the Hubby said that it was too early to leave then, because that means he’ll have to wait in line for 5 minutes…Really??!!

I disagree with this of course, because Trinity has cut it close too many times by the time he gets to class…and I don’t want him to think that’s okay.

Of course being the opinionated child that Trinity is, he chimed in:

T: I agree with daddy…it is still early

Me: No, it’s fine, you just have to wait a few minutes…

T: But he’s the boss, you know…

Me: I thought I was the boss…

T: No, daddy is the big boss here…

Me: …(speechless)…

It literally took me by surprised that it took at least 30 seconds for me to even be able to respond…

Me: Okay, the next time you want to go to Toys ‘R’ Us, let’s see who’s the boss then…see if he’ll buy you anything…don’t come running to me then…

T: (with the most serious look on his face) “Now…mom, let’s not be a Smart-Alec now…”

Yep, my son just called me a smart arse…of course he puts it nicely…but nonetheless…he did call me a smart arse…
I must’ve given my parents so much griefs growing up to be blessed with one that is too smart for his own good…At time like this is when I have to remind myself of the Serenity Prayer-parenting version that is…

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change…
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference,
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time…
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace,
Taking this worrisome world as it is, not as I would have it,
Trusting that everything usually turns out all right and probably will again,
That I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with him in the next…(when he has kids of his own.)
